    Fan depth in radiator shroud

I am helping a friend do a little cosmetic restoration on his 63 300HP SWC. He wanted to dress it up like a 340hp and we about finished. However, I have noticed that the fan does not seem to be deep enough inside the shroud. Can someone post a picture of the correct fan within the shroud?

    Thanks

    Lawrence

The blade should be 1/2 within and 1/2 out of the shroud in the fore-and-aft direction.

Here is a picture of my buddies fan. Seems like it is not far enough in the shroud.

      Thoughts?

Should come forward about 1 1/2".
Some parts numbers guys here can give you what you need to make it right.
I believe that BBC fan clutch has a shorter shaft than a SBC clutch. That looks like the problem.

Larry, There is more than just the fan clutch, the 340 shp motors have a thicker balancer, the water pump may be a little different??(326 last three digits), pulleys could be a problem also. I just took a look at my 63 327/340 car and the fan is about a 1 or 2 inch's outside the shroud. the fan clutch shaft lengths are about 1/3/4 long. Being your the corvette was a 300 hp the pulleys you have everything may line up as far as the drive belt (s) are concerned, I would just leave it alone if the car seems to operate at the correct temp. Joe L. maybe able to tell you exactly what is correct or not.

Larry if you want a pic of my 63 send me a pm with your cel. phone no.

That is exactly how my 63 SWC 250hp original setup looks...definitely something wrong with the original poster's friend's car...
                I have a 608 water pump.
