Anyone have a photo of an original weight or weights used to balance a drive shaft? My drive shaft is not weighted, but has a slightly indented circular shape near the differential end of the shaft. I wondered if that is where the weight was located at one time.

I believe that the balance weights during this time were either small squares or small rectangles. I know that is what the C2 cars have. No circular weights from the factory. Circular weights are currently used by the driveshaft/driveline companies. I recently had my 1967 driveshaft rebalanced, and they installed a circular weight (not exactly what I wanted)
I would check Ebay for drivshafts for sale. They normally have pictures with the sale item.

Re: 1960 Drive Shaft Balance
Thanks for the info. My drive shaft is being balanced today. It doesn't really matter to me what shape the weight is in as long as it works.
The bad news I just received is my third member is worn out. Car has 130,000 miles, PG tranny. It had started making noise over the past month that I had never heard and now I see why. Worn down gear teeth, corrosion on teeth, chipped tooth, rough bearings, differential pinion rod worn and holes elongated. The axle bearings are original and in good shape, but I am going to replace them.- Top

The important thing is that it's properly balanced. The shape of the weights is way down the list in importance. The fact may be that the circular weights are the only type now available. Even if they had weights of the original configuration they probably could not attach them in exactly the same way that the factory weights were attached. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
