1953/1954 Rear View Mirror

I wanted to verify that the rear view mirror that came with my car was the correct one for an early January 1954 production car or if this is not correct should I have the one with the thumbscrew?

54 vin 2184 doesn't have the thumbscrew.mike

VIN 1814 doesn't have the thumbscrew, either. Mine is like yours except the head of my mirror doesn't look as pointy as yours. see picture.

The second style mirrors (thumb screw) were not used until early 55. 1955 #006 came with the first style mirror.

Thanks for the confirmation.....indeed Peter there is a slight difference in the base taper and the nut that holds the mirror shaft in place. Perhaps a supplier change during production??

That is the correct mirror for 53-54's....
