Big thanks for the "Lime Book" and Mr. McComas' hard work

When I bought the "Lime Book" a few years back, I was wondering if I would ever use it, but it came in handy last week. A friend had a '62 'Vette with a crate motor and had found a 327 with the right date code for his build locally. It was in a boat at a local lake and was being advertised as a Corvette 327. The owner swore up and down it came out of an old Corvette that was wrecked and stuck in the boat 30 years ago. However, when the stamp pad was examined it had a "U" suffix. The owner claimed that was just a transmission stamp for a Corvette motor, but thanks to Mr. McComas' book, we could see it was a 2 bbl. MT 327 truck motor originally. Money saved, so a great investment for that book, thanks!

I'm not familiar with any publication named "Lime Book". Is it some kind of esoteric nickname for the NCRS Specification Guides that have all the engine stamp ID information?

      Duke,

      Here you go:

National Corvette Restorers Society! Complete Chevy V-8 Engine Code Guide 1955-1991 (Lime Book) - Covers all Chevrolet V-8 engines manufactured from 1955 through 1991 Long time NCRS member Ed McComas has just come out with a newly expanded fourth edition of his bright green "Lime" book that had been out of print for seemingly forever (over a decade?). This ultra-handy book is a quick reference

The "Lime Book" is, and always has been, a KEY piece of technical reference work; I've used it for many years.

It is amazing how many fake "Corvette" engines are out there. They all have some kind of story similar to what the owner told you.

I am glad that the Lime Book (unofficial nickname for "The Chevrolet V-8 Engine Code Pocket Guide, 1955-1991") has been of assistance. I am working with NCRS Cincy to continue printing of both the Lime Book and the Lemon Book.

Thanks again, and I thought the "Lime" would be better and easier to use than the "Lemon", but I guess it depends, good to have both available. Cheers!

                  Ed,
Great reference book, I have almost worn mine out.
                  Thanks,
