    muncie trans help

i was going over my trans and looking at the numbers. my car was built 4-5-67 and these are the numbers stamped into the main case. the serial number is correct and the numbers seem not to be tampered with. there are no other stamped numbers on the trans as is suppossed to be. the date code makes no sense to me the F in the month code is not suppossed to be an F as you guys know it doesnt correspond with any month. i would suspect the vin holds more weight than the non existent date code? can anyone shed light on this. is this why we dont look at these numbers because they are often messed up?
    thanx

Neither of those stamping were done by Muncie or St. Louis.

The transmission code stamping looks like it was done with individual stamps. GM would not have done it this way. Out of curiosity, what is the casting number seen on the passenger side of the main case?

OK, it's got the correct casting number. Of course, someone could have found a SERVICE case of the correct casting number and, then, stamped the codes. SERVICE cases do not have any stamped codes in these areas so they are perfect for creating "matching numbers".

Bob, you are asking for help without posting clear full side pictures. Post a full main case right and left side of the main case, the top does not hurt either.
There are three places that GM stamped depending on at Muncie or STL, and casting dates are also there.
