    5MF capacitor question

I noticed that the physical capacitors look the same. Other than the 5MF rating, are the other #s part #s to identify the connector ends? Male, female, etc.
I have a few duplicates here and was thinking of changing the end connectors as needed on my next project.

Dom, the 5mF is probably 0.5mF, but there is no polarity to these capacitors. Electrolytic capacitors are polarized, but these are not electrolytic, they are paper. They will have a max voltage rating, and some have a black band at one end that signifies the outside foil and it is best to make this the ground side, but they will work either way.

      Dan,
Thanks, So the best guess is that the other #s are part #s that determine the wire ends/location?

I can tell you this: if any features of the finished assembly are different (e.g. different connectors, different length end wires, different attached brackets, etc.) there WILL be a different part number for each different configuration even if the capacitor component is exactly the same for all.

          joe,
          Thanks,
That gives me the answer I was looking for along with Dans good education.
