    1969 ammeter capacitor

What's the purpose of the capacitor that screws to the back of gauge cluster at the clock, and attaches to the ammeter? Reduction in radio noise? Also, it has a blade connector that slides into the ammeter wiring clip.... Does it make a difference which side it goes into, pos or neg?

    thanks

    Roger -

It's for radio noise suppression (on AM), and it doesn't matter which spade it goes on on the battery gauge.

Roger the two wires that connect to the ammeter/battery gauge each have full time 12 volts if the cars battery is connected. My 1968's capacitor wire is connected to the top ammeter/battery gauge. The capacitor's wire spade fits into the plastic connector and does not connect on the top terminal of my 68's ammeter gauge directly. There are only two wires coming from the plastic connector going to the ammeter/battery gauge terminals.
