    Holley Carburetor Identification

I have a 1965 496/425 corvette and the Holley carburetor in it is not correct. I am trying to figure out what engine and year the carburetor would fit. Numbers listed below:
    Holley
    3868826-CS
    List 3124
8O1....the middle digit is either a zero or the letter O

Well a 3124 Holley is correct for a 1965 396 Corvette, yours is date coded 801 so that would make it a "service replacement" carb from October, 1968, 1st week.

      Don,

I thought service replacement Holley's had a four digit number not the original type three?

Could the 8 be a 6 instead ?...that would help...

Service replacement carbs manufactured after 1969 will have a 4 digit date. An original '65 Holley 3124 will have a date latest of about 574 which equals 4th week of July 1965 as model production ending By August. Most service carbs do not have the original small fuel bowls as well

            Pancho,
I am pretty sure that service replacement Holleys after 1972 got the 4 digit date code.

i agree with terry. i've seen 1969 holleys with three alpha-numerics. note sure when the 4 digit system was incorporated but it wasn't 1968-69 era. mike
