    firewall grommets on fuel car

The two 7/8 inch firewall opening on a 60 corvette, located just above and lateral (outside) of right passenger side hood receiver, would supply passage for generator tach cable in one opening and passage of windshield washer hoses in 2nd opening. Since a fuel car has a distributor driven tach, would the second opening be present? Also, the AIM shows using the tach cable opening for passage of windshield washer hoses on fuel car. Would both opening be present in a fuel car? Block off grommets? thank you for help. Lynn

This is how I understand it for 1959-1960. I'm also referencing my 1959 AIM page FOA 109 Sheet 2.00 Windshield Washers with RPO 579 or 469. I think the 1960 AIM is identical here. Also note the Washers were optional both years.

    .......
The 1102043 tach drive generator is used on all non high-lift cam engines, including the 250hp FI (RPO 579A). On the 250hp FI, the 2 holes in the firewall, one for tach cable in it's normal position, using rubber grommet 3708175. The other hole was drilled and used for the washer hoses, using rubber grommet 3746148. Now this is only true if FOA 109 Washers were ordered. If they were not, then I would imagine only the one hole for the tach cable, and no 2nd hole was drilled.

The 1102173 generators without tach drive were used on the 290hp FI (RPO 579B) high-lift cam engines, as it's distributor drove the tachometer, twice cable speed tach was used also. The hole made for the non HL cam engines tach cable, was then used for the FOA 109 washer hoses. I'm not sure what was configured for the RPO 579B if no Washers were ordered. I'd imagine a filler grommet was installed in the tach drive generator cable hole, or maybe no hole present. I think all firewalls had the hole drilled when they arrived in St Louis, but not positive.

How about the left, drivers side 7/8" hole for washer hoses on fuel cars? The hole is present on my car but no hole in "original insulation" behind firewall fiberglass hole. Thoughts?
