    Radio Block-off Plate Chevrolet Script

    Hi all,

I believe that the difference between original and repro Chevrolet scripts for the radio block-off plate is that the originals are chromed pot metal and the repros are plastic. Is this correct or are there repros in metal? If so, how does a metal repro differ from an original? A pic of a known original would be great!

    Thanks,

    Bob

If you are referring to 56-57 radio block off plates they are what you call pot metal. I am personally unaware of any original radio block off plate for 56-57 that was either chrome or plastic. A simple glance at the blueprint should detail the particulars. I am not a big fan of reproduction parts BUT if someone elects to fabricate one it should be so identified. That is one of the reasons you are having a problem identifying today. To be more specific and answer any of your questions about identifying a reproduction radio block off plate I would suggest you contact Jim Blakley who made a limited quantity in the mid 1980's. He did a real nice job and I am sure he could help you with identification particulars.

      Hi David,

I was actually talking about the Chevrolet script that is on the 58-62 blockoff plates (see attached pic). Do you or anyone know if all originals are chromed pot metal and repros chromed plastic? Or if there are repros made in chromed pot metal? If so, what are the differences?

But, I actually do need a blockoff plate for a 56-57 with the single horizontal bar (passenger car ones have both the horizontal and a vertical bar). Do you have the contact for Jim Blakley?

I attempted to provide a confirmation that used only 5 characters. I was told by the Board that such confirmation is impossible. I bow to the creators of the Board.

            Bob,

Mine is also plated pot metal, but did any repros come in plated pot metal and, if so, how do they differ from an original?

            Loren,

What were you trying to send??

            Thanks,

            Bob
