Which wiring harness / electrical supplier is best?

Lectric Limited, Zip, somebody else? motor bay is empty so would especially like to do the instrument cluster, fiber optics & front end wires complete. Its original though most everything actually works I think the time is probably right. This is a driver - originality is desired but not winning bloomington gold here.

    Thank you!!

Here's a third vote for M&H. I used LL once and was disappointed.

What were your complaints about the 'competitions' products? (ignition wires not included). I bought a complete car harness from LL, haven't installed yet, but the connectors etc. look spot on! I wouldn't think one company is going to have the best of everything. Wish there was some publication/club/forum that would compare re-pro parts! I know no one wants to lose any advertising dollars, but it might make vendors sell or better their products.

Rich it would also be interesting if we knew exactly who made the harnesses we all see advertised. Do M&H and LL have a wire room where somebody is following blueprints and making them from scratch? And does Zip Corvette buy them from M&H & resell, or does Corvette America get them from Taiwan, etc. If I could find out if MH/LL wire harnesses were made at their building in USA for resale by others would be an indication they are pretty good materials.

M & H makes their own products right here in the USA. I don't know where LL stuff is made but it is definitely different than M & H stuff. I have compared them side by side. I will only use M & H, period.

M & H is located at 13537 Alondra Blvd, Santa Fe Springs, CA 90670
                  (562) 926-9552. I have used them since 1980. Their website is www.wiringharness.com. They make all vintage car harnesses, and yes all here in AMERICA..

                    Gary ,

Not only are they made here , As I stated earlier , they are very helpful and accommodating.

In my case the dash harness they sent me had a fuse panel with different ratings then mine had . When questioned , they stated there were running changes during the year, but were happy to change the ratings or even reuse my original fuse block, if it was in good enough condition.
I sent it to them and they cleaned it up, reprinted the fuse ratings to match the ones I had , and sent it back to me NC.!

You have to give a huge thumbs up to people like that !

                      Gary,
In 1982 MIKE, the owner took my old original parking lite harness from my 57 Corvette I was restoring. He not only made the harness exact, but also copied and found a supplier that made the shething over the harness that was very unique. Not sure if the do it today, but they were and still are very exact to each application. 65 Fuel cars had a special ignition wire to the start solenoid , and they made it very correct. Their catalog is very complete. I sold a lot of harnesses from them for many cars in my garage shop until 1999 when I retired.

Wow the M&H fans are pretty ardent, which is good. At one time LL was "It", what happened? I was under the assumption LL's harness's at least were made here in the U.S. It's not like I'm a relative or part owner of the company, but again my '73 harness's were spot on.

M & H is heads above all the others with service after the sale. They are proud of their products and should be as their harness is more correct than their competitors!

Great company right here in the USA!!!!

I have used M&H for three different harness installations, all with excellent results. Recently, as I was trying to determine the correct marking for a cable, and got into a detailed discussion with one of their tech reps, it became obvious that they have the original GM drawings for the products they produce, and when he read the drawing notes to me it was clear what the correct markings should be.

They make excellent products that are correct in every detail, and they fit perfectly. Don't know if LL make their own products - I asked one of their people at a Corvette event but the answer wasn't definitive.

I have no dog in this fight, but do have some information.

Lectric Limited has hosted the Illinois Chapter several times at their manufacturing and sales facility in Bedford Park Illinois. They have shown us their manufacturing/testing area complete with original wiring harness drawings. I have had discussions with them about the braid on their big block spark plug wires, and they show me what they say is an original braiding machine from Packard Electric. They also use what they say are the original machines and tooling from Packard that crimp the terminals to the wires.
