    1965 - 327/365HP Accelerator rod

    Hello to all; I want to purchase a NOS accelerator rod which is confirmed as GM part number 3828224. My 65' has a 327-365hp engine. I checked the AIM and could not find the part........... Does anyone know if this is the correct rod ?
    Thanks in advance; David

    I'm gonna stick my neck out here and say that that is the correct part number for a F.I. unit ('63-'65)

      My 1965 Chevrolet Parts Catalogs (Oct. 1964, Jan. 1965, and May 1965) list GM # 3828224 in Gr. 3.430 as the accel. control rod for 63-65 Corvettes w/FI.

        The 3828224 rod was used for FI applications only. Your application used rod GM #3827696. This rod is still available from GM.

        A note: I don't think that the 3827696 was the actual rod originally used for your application. I believe the original rod was GM #3825203. However, if you look for an NOS example of this piece you'll be looking for a long while and you won't find it. This piece was never available in SERVICE so NOS is impossible. So, what was the difference between the original and the 3827696? I don't know, for sure, but I expect the 3827696 is longer and, if so, can probably be cut to the length of the original.

          The service replacement rods I have seen have 3-4 inches of threads. Not like the originals

              The rod on my early '65 L76 is 11_3/4" long, and has 2.0" threaded.

                Actually, in this case, I think the reproduction rod is closer to the original rod than the SERVICE rod EVER available from GM.

                  Thanks Joe;

                  I'm simply going to order a repro' rod from Long Island Corvette, and change the bushing grommet set, and the return spring all at the same time. My car was restored in 1983 & the rod is really not in great shape.

                  Thanks again !

                    Hey David -- after you install the Long Island rod, you might want to switch sides on your knock-offs. (By looking at your spinners)
