I think I would start first with an ad in the Driveline.

However, there are two persons out in California that probably have what you need. They advertise in Hemmings under Corvette Parts For Sale.

I just bought a complete original air cleaner assembly for my 67 435 a few weels ago. I found it on ebay.

Anthony, I have what I think is a original top cover that was given to me several years ago. It's not perfect, has some pitting, has the silkscreen(raised black lettering), not sure about the raised lip on the bottom, maybe it is. It's yours for shipping cost if you want it. It's collecting dust here. Maybe it can be re-chromed without losing the underside silkscreen.

I bought a reproduction from David Crane and it was very nice. He gave me this top cover at that time.

        Rich
p.s. Can someone confirm or negate this as a original? I'm unsure.

Keep in mind a re-chromed lid is noticeably heavier than an original if you compare the two....

Hmmm, good point. When I was OJ'ing '67 BB's at Kissimmee a few years ago I do recall that was discussed.

Should not be too hard to find a 67 427/435HP lid, carb and intake assembly. By 1968 nearly all were removed and chunked in someones garage!!!!!
But then again, of the 4,000 plus 67 435HP made there are 6,500 being judged at the NCRS meets!

6501. Just judged another one at our recent Louisiana Chapter Judging Meet. They do seem to pop up everywhere these days. All with original engines too.

                  Please-elaborate about the "noticeably heavier".

Surely the discussion at Kissimmee was centered around reproductions vs. originals and the weight not being the same.
The gauge of the base metal would effect the total weight of the lid HOWEVER since chrome plating is measured in microns there is no way that rechroming an original lid could cause a noticeable difference in the weight!!!!! On the judging field, give me a break!!!!!

                    JR

PS. And yes, I am aware that rechroming anything correctly involves copper and nickel. All in microns too!!

I agree it seems to get sillier all the time. I believe the hard part to get is the correct screen for the foam filter.

When I compared the two I had one in one hand and one in the other and the re-chromed original lid had significantly more heft to it due to the show plating process. Also it was beautifully lustrous....the original not so much.
