Hi guys, I just recently had my 67 roadster painted and new weatherstrip installed. The back edge of the decklid is up quite a bit..will this settle or do I have to treat the W/S to soften it up?,Thanks

Re: Deck lid has lifted
Greg,
The weatherstrip can be treated to soften it up. I use Silicone Spray very carefully to make sure I don't get it on anything that needs painting in the near future. Also, on the deck lid, pop the soft-top as it pulls up on the decklid. I usually place a large heavy weight on the decklid using towels to distribute the load and protect the surface. Leave the weight on the decklid for several days until the weatherstrip takes a set.
If that doesn't work get out the shims and pull it down with the hinge.

Re: Deck lid has lifted
Greg,
As a rule the new weatherstrip is more soft and supple that the old hardened originals. I would put a 1/32 nd shim between the hinge and deck lid at the the front bolts and see what you gain. Vary the thicknesses until you get it leveled out with the rear.
