    63 hood pins overspray question

Could one explain the overspray on the base of the hood pin retainers, Is it a masked line or just random overspray, maybe someone has a pic.?. Thanks Ed.

    Hi Ed,
Since there were no replies, I'll take a stab at. I'm not sure all 63 hood pins and associated retainers had overspray as mentioned in the 63 JG. Here are a few pictures showing an early hood with hoods pins in place so overspray should be present. No clue to how these were masked. Later hood shows paint behind pins so no overspray. Original Z06 Convertible which is a later car also shows no overspray on pins/retainers. Not sure what others have seen.
    Thanks
    Jeff

Jeff, Thanks for the picks of the hoods, interesting. I was told at A judging meet my hood pins had no overspray. so I just want to correct this deduct. I can surely see that 63 still has changes in many areas during there productions. My March 63 car is in the middle of many changes, I think that someone with many 63/64 restorations under there belt could put a long list on the changes that have been recorded, that could be useful for restoring these cars. I know that there is Noland's book ,but it may be a little out dated. The Judges including my self( still learning) all seems to have our area's of judging that we tend to pick on.

Ed, I just took a look at the parts I took off my April 63. A bit of corrosion and deep scratches but no overspray. I replaced them with a set I restored and I did add overspray. Since I did not own the car since new someone in the past could have removed the overspray.

Harry, Did you use a mask line or just random over spray?
