    Heater Core Replacement Sealant

    Hello,
I am changing the heater core in my 63 and it looks like there is a lot of sealant between the actual heater core and the core retaining cover. In reading the 63 shop manual it says to make sure that it is well sealed. I read another post where a similar question was addressed, but it was in regards to sealant between the retaining cover and the heather box.
My question is should there be sealant between the core and retaining cover? I think there should, but am not certain.
Also, should there also be sealant between the retaining cover and actual heater box? If so what do you recommend? Thank you! Dan

Dan, If your outer box appears like it never been apart and there appears to be sealer used I would duplicate it. By the way if its original a few pic.s would be great, there has been some previous interest on this topic.
