I installed a quartz movement in my 1966 clock. I cannot eliminate a ratcheting feel, when operating the time setting shaft. The kit instructions say to make sure the motion wheel shaft touches the underside of the dial plate. I cannot get the shaft to touch the dial plate, after applying enough pressure that squeezes the dial plate grommets to the point that they are bulging through the dial plate nuts. Has anyone experienced this? There must be something I do not understand. Thanks, Ken

Re: installing quartz movement
Joe;
That is pretty much what I did, just not very well.
When I first put it together, the second hand couldn't climb the hill. So, I tried just a small dab of super glue, which was a tad too much and, well, you can guess the rest. Talked with Roger about it, but he just laughs and wants an arm and leg to fix it. Maybe in my next life.

Re: installing quartz movement
Joe, I turned the rubber bushings around, and the clearance of the motion wheel pin is now good. I still have the ratcheting feel, when turning the setting stem. I can see the small gear on the minute wheel jumping, when turning the setting stem. The slip clutch on the minute wheel assembly was originally very tight. I used an Xacto blade under the clutch wheel, working it around, and using Tri Flow oil to lubricate. The clutch action was freed up, but I do not know what a correct feel would be. I am thinking about purchasing a new minute wheel assembly and see if this will do the trick. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Ken- Top
