Hello, I know that this might seem like a stupid question but I am rebuilding the heater box on my 63 SWC and the kit came with rivets that hold the box together. This type of rivet is used in numerous places on the car. I am familiar with the smaller pop rivets and have used them quite a bit. However, these are larger and I have no idea how to properly install them. Any insight that you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Dan

Re: Rivet replacement
Assume you are asking about solid rivets. They need to be bucked using a rivet gun and a bucking bar. Someone once posted a link to a youtube video here that was pretty informative for the novice. I don't have that link, but youtube is pretty easy to navigate and I'll bet you can find several clips out there on the topic.

Re: Rivet replacement
Dan, Are they Steel or Aluminum?
This '67 box has steel tubular rivets with hollow tip. I believe you need a "press" tool to install those. Or as Tracy suggested to use a bucking bar/hammer method. But your drive tool may need to be a conical tip so it swedges the tip properly and mushrooms out.
It has steel rivets holding it together.
