    396 at the upcoming Mecum Anaheim auction

        Curious as to what rear gear ratio it has. The NCRS Spec Guide shows 3:36 as the standard ratio for the 396 in 65 but a 3:08 was available. If it had 3:36's, depending on tire size he had back then, it seems he had to be buzzing it up near 6700+ rpm to hit that speed.

          Another thing; in addition to the 3.08's, if you ordered the 36.5 gallon option (N03) you got the rear wheelwell filler panels that permitted tires up to 8.15 x 15.

          I may be imagining things, but I can see the forward edge of the tank cover between the seats. [the horizontal line just below the rear view mirror -- cover is half in the shade (between seats) and in the sun (the horizontal part).

          If so, I can't understand why Mecum hasn't mentioned this.

            In Mecums infinite wisdom they only print the info that is supplied by the owner, liability you know.
            But if there is a big tank the owner is obviously missing the boat...
