I have a '75 coupe that was made during the last half of the production run and has the slotted Al wheels. It's a low miles (less than 50K) car that appears to be very original in all other respects. The vin number is 1Z37T5S421526. I know the accepted wisdom is that the aluminum wheels became available in '76 (ignoring the handful made in '73 before it was pulled from the option list) but is it possible that some '75's came with them? This car is otherwise a low option car that was ordered for performance, at least as much as you could buy in 1975. It's an L82, 4 speed. and the HD suspension with the rear anti roll bar, and that's it. The date codes on the wheels are not very clear and I have not been able to match them to a production date. Thought's?
Were any 1975 cars made with the aluminum slotted wheels that came later on '76's?

Just guessing here, but a more likely scenario was that the original owner saw them on a '76 after they came out, liked them and went over to the parts department and bought a set.- Top

Paul....I guess anything is possible since we weren't there, but I would tend to agree with Mark that they purchased them later. Anyway like Phillip has mentioned if you want to have your '75 Flight Judged with those AL wheels you would have to have proof for them to pass and I have never heard of this.Peter Gregory # 4157
