1963 Power Brake Booster Check Valve

A buddy is looking for one. Probably expensive. I see reproductions available for the 64-67 but I don't have a photo of a 1963 valve.

Anyone have photos of original 1963 check valves? Nothing in the archives found.

Look through these. That may be a service replacement valve. As I recall the part is not perfectly round where it meets the booster. I'll keep looking for pictures.

Ahh, great info Harry thanks. I forgot it was a straight hose nipple, not a 90* nipple fitting like the later years.

No repro even exists that I've researched. Even LIC doesn't have it. Will keep searching.

Another question you may know. This bracket is for the vacuum hose. It mounts to the valve cover bolt. On a 250 HP Base engine, the VC's use the reinforcement under the attach bolt. Does that reinforcement go under, or over the bracket?

Under the bracket as it will not fit properly over the bracket.

Original valve was GM #5461043. It was discontinued in January, 1965 and replaced by GM #5464705, a very similar valve. The latter was discontinued in March, 1976 and replaced by GM #2621069 which is also a similar valve but with a slightly shorter nipple. Sometime later, the 2621069 was discontinued and replaced by GM #14002211. The latter is also similar with an even shorter nipple but was supplied without a grommet and is BLACK plastic. It was discontinued without supercession in September, 1993.

rich: i found, while junk yarding 30 years ago, that buick riviera's had a PB booster configured like the 63 vet(valve located outboard of the MC). can't remember if valve nipple was straight or on a 90 degree angle like the 64-7 vet valves. mike

Yes, the GM #5461043 valve was also used on 1962 passenger cars with Moraine power brake system as well as 1963 series 10-30 light trucks with power brakes.

Buick Rivieras used the GM #5464705 (which replaced the 5461043) and it's very similar to the 5461043.
