America's Finest 67 Bolt- on Wheels

Has anyone ever seen America's Finest Corvette's 67 Bolt on wheel except in pictures? How does it compare to the present Coevette America wheel? Where can you buy them and for how much? Are the made in China?

Re: America's Finest 67 Bolt- on Wheels

Earlier this year I bought a set of America's Finest Corvette's 67 Bolt on wheels for my 435 top flight roadster and I am very satisfied with the quality of the wheels. I did a lot of research before I spent the extra for their wheels. In speaking with Hal at America Finest, he explained how their wheels are the most correct reproduction available. In addition, the way their starburst center cap attaches to the wheel is far superior in every way, for safety, quality and ease of installation and removal. For those who have struggled with removing the center caps off 67 Bolt on wheels without damaging the wheel and/or center caps, these wheels are for you!!! Take a look at their website and see how ingenious the design of their center caps are, while appearing completely stock/original when installed!

Chris --- How much did they cost and where did you buy them? Were they on your roadster when it was judged?

I purchased them directly from Hal at America's Finest Corvette's 1-888-318-3883. $2400 complete with center caps and free shipping. I didn't have them on my 435 when judged, however Hal has told me that some have had NCRS judging done with these wheels, they are that correct. I know I could have spent less on other repro wheels, but I wanted the most correct wheel available and I am so happy with how easy it is to remove and install the starburst center caps!!! I have seen my wheels next to the other repro wheels and there is no comparison!

I purchased a set about 2 years ago. The center caps and starburst caps started to "bubble" after 2 years (and zero miles/stored inside). After a bunch of back & forth and a few months they did replace them.

I purchased mine a few months ago. I think they look great and I have a set of originals and with the exception of the news ones being shinier, it is about as close to exact as you are going to get.

Steve's right. I bought a set 2 years ago and they are as close as you will find. I also have a set of original bolt on's and the fin width is really close to that of the originals. I don't think you will be disappointed with them. ARA

Thanks to all who have described the America's finest wheels. I have never seen them but based on the good responses, I ordered a set earlier today. My car has Canada documention and a tank sticker that shows it had the aluminum bolt-ons originally, but it had flairs and big Cragers on it when I bought it. The bolt-ons were long gone. I'm glad such a good product in now available because I am too much of a cheapskate to fork over the price of good originals.

Cheapskate??? I don't know how saving $15000 could ever construed as being cheap. Frugal, smart...yeah, all that.

Re: America's Finest 67 Bolt- on Wheels

I just got a '67 3xBlack L71 convertible in for restoration with reproduction bolt-ons. The ribs appear thin, similar to originals to me, but I have little experience with these wheels.

What is the rib width on originals, and what is it on the reproductions from AFC? Is there some kind of identifier externally on the AFC wheel? I'd like to know where these came from on this car.

I'll take a few pics and post shortly.

edit....I measure apx 0.180" on the wheel rib. The starburst rib is about 0.150".

Rich, where and how the fins end at the lip are different on originals versus the AFC wheels. The fins end earlier than the repro's do. Also, the depth to the wheel lip on originals is more pronounced and deeper than the AFC. The color of the gray paint is still too dark in my opinion compared to originals. Also, as Steve pointed out above, the shine to the faces of the fins have more shine to them than originals....but AFC wheels are the closest thing to originals out there, and they're a nice looking wheel. Hope you're well my friend!!!!!!! Ara - you going to the Howey meet?

Ara, Thanks for the detailed explanation as I'm learning about these now. I'm not sure who makes these that I have here. I'll soon be removing them when I get to the chassis work, so I'll look for some telltale signs of the manufacturer.

                        Thanks,
                        Rich
p.s. May do Howey. If I do I'll check in if you're going.
