A/C compressor and Body Drop . Drop slated for Sunday !!

Body drop slated for this Sunday !!!!

Does the A/C compressor get in the way ? I seem to recall someone saying it would , but I now can't find that post.

I sure would like to instal it ahead of time , and line up the pulleys now ,rather then wrestle with it over the fender later !!

Mine was on. Radiator & shroud was off.

Jim, Yes it is in the way. Line everything up, then remove the alternator, fan and A/C compressor. That will make the body drop a lot easier! Joe

On my 65 we had the compressor on, had the radiator in and the fan shroud on, all went perfect, then ..... went to put the lower radiator hose on... there is no way iin "hell" you can get that lower hose on with the shroud in the way, believe me I still have the scars! Good luck on your drop, have extra eyes and go slow....

Be sure and put the radiator supply tank on before the drop also and the course the cowl ac box, wiper motor, etc

You scared me . I just went out and looked . Must be a different radiator shroud in 65 than on my 66 . While it doesn't look easy , it doesn't look that hard .(see Photo)Can you elaborate ?

You also state the A/C compressor was on and did not interfere , while Joseph says it will . I assume that means it is a TIGHT FIT at best .

I think it's a matter of choice. mine was on but off is much easier as long as it lined up initially.

Jim, had the compressor, alternator, fan, belts, etc., doors, and hood on my 64 Coupe at body drop time. Four guys on each side, a spotter front and rear, went on OK.

3 for , one opposed . I think I will go for it .

I will be using a 3 ton engine hoist , and have 8 guys to spot and adjust as needed . So I can go slowly and carefully .

Major success !!!!!


Dropped without incident !! A/C compressor, radiator , shroud , all pulleys and belts on before drop .


It helped to have a 3 ton engine hoist and 7 guys !
