    67 born on date question

Surfing the net I came across this car on carsonline. Problem I have is the cars birthday is January 6th 67 and the body date is the 11th. What gives? Link should take you to the car.

    John
I understand vehicle birthday is an average estimate of daily production calculated from first and last VIN for that month. Could holidays, Like Christmas or New Years be affecting this?

Using the Corvette Birthday Calculator, it comes up with January 5, 1967

There are documented records of cars just before and just after yours being built on January 11th, I think the calculator you used and the birthdays calculator if it indicates January 5th are both in error.

Agree with Roy S. If those calculators show the Jan 5 they are in error. I have never put much fate in those calculators. I have data on several cars that are F11 within 20 vin numbers of this one on both sides. Also an interesting fact on this car. It was the Fire Dept. Raffle Car at the 1999 Fall Carlisle car show.

Roy and John, It does say it is an approximant date. I would go with what Roy's documents are.

Mystery solved then. One more question that maybe some one like John H. can answer. What was the average daily production? To me it works out very close to 100 a day at least for 67 model year.

Reason i started the thread was I have vin 7152 which has a E29 body build date with a "birthday" of Jan. 3 67 according to the C2 registry. Initially it seemed kind of strange that a vin 700 later then that would be produced that late.

I would suspect your 7152 car has a Dow Smith (AO Smith) body. trying to correlate the build dates of the bodies to the actual production date gets complicated when you use two different body sources as samples. I suspect 100 -107 is about correct for number of cars per day off the line in St Louis but do not know the actual target..

The AO Smith strike was on at this time. 7152 fits with E29.

The trim tag in the ad shows it as St Louis built.

                        Don,

7152 is John Seeley's small block Corvette. The car in the ad is 7860, the birthday calculator on C2 Registry shows it's birthday as January 11th. Same as the body build date on the trim tag.

St. Louis bodies are always much closer to the build date than AO Smith Bodies. My '65 Smith body build date is 12 days prior to shipping report date & the birthday calculator date. Which BTW match to the day.

                          Roy,

You know my car as Hank's old black with teal blue interior 3 speed car. No options. It is a St. Louis built body. There may have been a little extra time on my car because of the New Years holiday and the weekend.

Not my first misunderstanding and very doubtful my last.

                              John -

Daily rate was 56 per shift, 112 per day. The 7-per-hour rate was simply determined by the amount of time it took for the bonds to "go off" in the Body Shop; the operation cycle time to select a panel, butter it with bond, locate it, fixture and clamp it, wait for the bond to go off, and unclamp the fixture was about 8-1/2 minutes. 6-1/2 to 7 minutes of that cycle was waiting for the bond to go off (cure). With 60's polyester material and bonding adhesive technology, that's the best you could do for cycle time.
