    Picture of heater box/firewall area

    Trying to get my 65 coupe up to NCRS juding standard (failed for no sealer etc. around replacement heater box/firewall area), can someone post a pic of your heater box area so I can see how neat or not so, it looks around it & firewall area & what type sealer etc. is used.ThanksChalie M

      Charles, here is my '67 with plenty of sealer, way more than enough. I think the factory called them "leakers". You don't usually see cars with this much sealer. I'd wonder how much of a deduct this one would get? The "after" picture shows a minimal amount of sealer but it still got me a top flight. I used a black colored roofing cement which goes in a tube.         Charlie, if the heater box did not fail the water test, no sealer was added. There is a foam seal there. You should have lost zero points for no sealer.

          Harry, the '67 convertible water leak test at the factory must have been some kind of joke because mine leaks like a sieve when driving in the rain, sealer or no sealer. PT

            It is forty some years old. The sealer gets brittle and shrinks with heat and age. Not surprising that it leaks now.

              Mine had strip calking stuffed in the space . It was dried out and hard when I removed it
