Marco that looks better than most I have seen but the only real bare areas on mine are what was blocked by the hinges . I have good coverage on the bottom (even the outside was painted on the bottom) . I also have good gloss on the lock plate . You have no paint on the inside portion were the door panel touched and the inside where the hinges didnt block the paint . I'm sure there were no two the same but I think your a little light on the paint coverage . Also it looks like clear on the lower unpainted area of the door .- Top

Re: 65 door jamb neatness ???
Bill,
Yes, the paint coverage ended up being a little on the light side, on this one. As you stated no two are the same. It has been observed that the AOS bodies tend to have more coverage than the STL, especially as the C2 production progressed. These pictures are of a '63. The painter applied the red oxide primer and base coat with the doors installed and then removed them and cleared everything, so the bare glass still has some protection, and there are no dry patches. He also made a point to NOT sand the jambs, so the 'glass texture stays visible. Also all the factory grind marks were retained.

Marco I noticed the fiberglass texture and the grind marks . I think you done a good job in showing how it could have been when new . My comments were just showing the difference between original condition and what most restorations look like. You and your painter done a good job .- Top

Re: 65 door jamb neatness ???
If I recall '63 Sebring Silver had very little gloss such as Marco's car. Wasn't the original intent of that color to have the look of bare aluminum?
The weather stripping glue is also really sloppily applied in Bill's example. That's really painful to recreate while doing a hand build restoration.
I wouldn't mind seeing a few more examples of '65 door jams. Especially any AO Smith bodies.
Thanks!

Some people have developed nerve damage because of that. Particularly in the furniture industry where there were open paint booths with little ventilation.- Top
