Re: Correct fuse for stop light circuit
Going to reply to my own question here - for what it's worth, I discovered that at least one respected Corvette parts supplier carries fuse panel for the mid-years. The listings include a pic of the fuse panel for each year. The 63 panel takes a 20A fuse for the brake light, courtesy light circuit; the 64 panel calls for a 15A fuse. I feel safe using the 15A fuse and as for the "SAE fuse", I think it was a typo.
If anyone believes the above is not correct please advise, otherwise thanks for reading my comments.Ed- Top

Re: Correct fuse for stop light circuit
Ed,
If the fuse panel in the car shows a 15 amp fuse, that's what I would put back in it. Both my 1964 convertible without back-up lights and 1965 coupe with back-up lights have a 15 amp fuse installed for that circuit.
Hope this helps.

Re: Correct fuse for stop light circuit
James - thanks. That is what I am going with. I think 15 is the right fuse. That is what was in it and I had no problems - until I grounded a hot wire by accident and blew the fuse. Have just installed a battery shut off switch to prevent those kinds of mistakes in the future.Ed- Top

Ed,
Good advice, done - all is working just fine.
Thanks to all that replied. Now on to finding the right battery minder. I'm thinking the BatteryMinder model 1500. Any thoughts or recommendations?Ed- Top

Re: Correct fuse for stop light circuit
Two Eds are always better than one. No input on the battery tender issue as I've never used one and generally get 8-10 years from batteries. Record so far is 16 years from a Sears 36 battery back in the day they still sold them. No special precautions taken, batteries left in cars over the winter, but each one does have a disconnect switch.- Top
