Question...mine is a '67 L79, 4-speed with the stock Holley List 3810 carb. AIM calls for part #3830222 return spring, 5th edtion TIM&JG calls for a black phosphate return spring...neither states how long or what diameter. Paragon lists a 4 1/2 inch return spring for all '63-'67 except FI. Would either of the springs below be applicable to this application? Also, does the spring insert from the top or the bottom of the carburetor throttle lever? Thanks.

Neither of these springs is correct for your application. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Carburetor return spring
As you probably know; you need a spring that has just one long straight end in order to clear the throttle arm of the carb at WOT. The other end can have a loop right after the coil section. Being as how your car is a 67, you should have no problem getting a replacement. I suffered through the problem with vendors passing off a white spring for 63 only. Most of us 63 owners learned through a bad experience years ago, yet a number of vendors are still pushing the white spring. I got so frustrated that I modified a white spring to work until someone finally clued me in.

Stu FoxYou are correct, Stu, in stating that there is no problem getting a correct replacement spring for the '67...already ordered from LIC along with some other stuff that the judges clued me in to at the Texas Regionals.
