    Sometimes, on a repro shaft, the brazing fails on the "football" & causes all kinds of mischief.

      Hello Brad, I have seen many of the electronic conversion pickups that develop an intermittent open when the point mount plate is moved by the vacuum advance unit. Call Dave Fiedler and ask him if he has had any such failures with his units and also ask him the required operating voltage. This unit may require 12 volts in the run position instead of the reduced voltage supplied to the points through the resistor circuit. Dave always goes out of his way to help with such issues.         Brad,

        Did you try a miti-vac on the vacuum advance control to see if the diaphragm is leaking, that's got to be the starting point.
