Is the Corvette Avelate a creation of Chevrolet ? Saw my first one today on a video and the owner claims it was a limited production run by Chevrolet. If so why are none at the NCM? Supposed on 20 plus were built. Anyone heard of this Corvette?

GM had nothing to do with the Avelate - they were done by an outside conversion house that made the body kits.- Top

Re: Corvette Avelate
They are/were built in my area. They are a "love it or hate it" creation. All the ones I've seen are hideous looking. Those that have seen them in person tend to agree. Why ruin a car by creating a hermaphrodite that looks like crap?- Top

Re: Corvette Avelate
Hi,
If you google Avelate you'll see various pictures of what appears to be about all that were built…. some people say a total of 11.
There's also a version (maybe a year or two later) that takes a few styling hints from the 53 cars.
To my eye it's every very bit as bad as the 11, but in a totally different way.
It looks to me like someone said we made the first ones too hideous, (thanks Jim,) so we'll make this one more subtle….. it looks like a partially used bar of soap!
Regards,

Re: Corvette Avelate
Believe it or not today on the parkway a guy passed me with a C5. The car was all stock except for a piece about 2 inches wide running down the back window. It was painted the same color as the car but to to me it looked ridiculous and personally I think he ruined the car. The split window may look great on a 63 but on anything else it looks totally out of place.- Top
