    I think it was pretty common to sit in car with G box door open, used as a table, ie, at the drive-in. (Remember those?). That may be why they molded indents into the inner door for cup holders.

      Here's a shot of NOS (service) glove box lock cases. Notice the "B1" on the rear of the case; just like the "B1" on the spare tire lock case.

      Checked my early unrestored '65 and it has the retainer, case, and screw chromed, so I guess original.

        I can tell you the early 63 retainer is not chromed, looks like dull cad plating. From my memory there is also a length difference but I can't recall at the moment the exact difference.

        The early 63 lock sat inside the glove box cover then a chrome bezel and a shorter retainer then in 1964 the lock again sat inside the glove box. I think I got that right, maybe some with a early 63 can refresh my memory.
