    NCRS Driven Miles

I plan to drive my 1966 Coupe 427 to the Lone Star Regionals. This will be my first ever NCRS event so it's going to be a big learning experience. My question is this: Do you have to drive the miles in one day to the event site or can you spread it out over several days as I make my way to the event? I plan to drive to the David and Chuck Anderson's Performance Automotive in Fort Worth from Wichita Falls to have some exhaust work done , then on to Frisco to spend the night with my son, then to the event site the following day. Will all those miles qualify as driven miles? I have mapped my route at total of 200 miles on Google Maps.

    Chuck,

Take as many days and whatever route you wish to take. Just reset the trip odometer before you leave, get out on the road and let her eat!!! That's what makes it fun to "DRIVE" you Corvette to these events. I've done it for years and wouldn't do it any other way.

    Regards,

    James West

Thanks James, I am looking forward to the "adventure"; taking some back roads and avoiding the semis and road debris as much as possible.

Just dont do it on 48 year old tires.

I was really looking forward to the drive to national convention. I needed a raw score of 97% and after calculating my rough scores based on my previous judging sheets, I decided that I needed every possible point and ended up trailering the car out on original Goodyear redlines.

Enjoy the trip. I received a ribbon for the longest distance driven at my first NCRS event (regional in 2012)

I am also planning to drive to the Lone Star Regionals and have a few mileage point questions:
Can I drive the car out but trailer it home? I have a meeting in Dallas the following week and plan to load the car onto my chase rig after the meet and have a friend take it back home if allowable.
Can I make the drive on my second set of wheels with radials and swap out to my bias-ply set when I get to Frisco?
Do those of you who add mileage points feel the need to justify your score when you discuss your car? (Do you say "it scored 99% at the Lone Star Regional. It really was a 97 but I received two points for driving there...." or does the Corvette community consider that score a genuine 99%?).
Thanks and looking forward to the Regional.

[QUOTE=Christopher Price (59874);723303]I am also planning to drive to the Lone Star Regionals and have a few mileage point questions:

            *Answer is yes you can!

Can I make the drive on my second set of wheels with radials and swap out to my bias-ply set when I get to Frisco?

*Answer is yes you can! I saw this done with a car driven on the road tour in 2013. When he arrived at the convention he changed his knock-off wheels to the original '63 steel wheels and hubcaps for judging. Just be sure you do it before you enter and exit the judging field.

Do those of you who add mileage points feel the need to justify your score when you discuss your car? (Do you say "it scored 99% at the Lone Star Regional. It really was a 97 but I received two points for driving there...." or does the Corvette community consider that score a genuine 99%?).

*Answer... What you put on your registration is what they will add to your final score. I have in fact at the recent NCRS National Convention drove an additional 75 miles further than what I indicated on my registration sheet. I contacted the National Judging Chairman at the meet who requested that I give him a statement in writing, signed and dated stating what my actual driven mileage was. I was credited accordingly for the mileage I drove to the convention. If you are trying to achieve a 97% or greater for a Duntov award, mileage points will not count towards the 97%. The car has to score 97% without mileage points to qualify for the Duntov award. Mileage points are a great way for a car that may not quite make a Top Flight of 94% on judging points alone. It's still a Top Flight no matter how you look at it. At least you have the guts drive your car as it was intended. As far as I'm concerned you should get credit towards a Duntov since Zora himself said "trailers are for horses!"

            Enjoy your drive to Frisco!

            James West

Nobody's business but yours what your car scored. That's why the numbers are not announced or published anywhere.

I appreciate the replies. I am coming in a day early so I plan to change wheels/tires and do a quick clean of the car before heading to the meet site. CP

Even though you will have driven it there -- since you have the time, run through the operations check when you arrive. There is nothing like catching something that doesn't work when you have the time to repair it.

                      Tim,

                      Chuck is your BB driver.

I won't be at the Lone Star Meet but do plan to drive my mostly original '65 to Joplin next May for it to be judged for the first time then on to Denver in July.

                      Thanks,

                      James West
