    Voltage Regulator Capacitor

    I have a 65 and am replacing the voltage regulator. As a radio equiped car I have a capacitor attached to the voltage regulator. Does it matter which mounting screw the capacitor is attached to. Mine currently is attached to the lower right screw(as you are looking at it) but I seen an a drawing that it is mounted on the top screw. The judging manual only mentions that it would have one and I didn't see anything in the assembly manual.

      See your Assembly Manual, section U69, sheet A6, upper right illustration, item #2; the capacitor is attached to a pre-pierced hole in the vertical wall of the regulator base with the same screw that attaches the ground wire from the horn relay mounting screw (shown in UPC 6, sheet B4, item #1). The voltage regulator attaching screws aren't involved - they're into rubber well-nuts in fiberglass, thus have no ground potential.

          Got it. Thank you John. The one that I removed has the correct part number and date code. Does anyone restore these?

              John Pirkle, there may be others.
              The light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.
