    1968 Master Cylinder date

I bought a dated DC non power brake master cylinder for a 1968 from Ken at Lonestar. The julian date is stamped upside down and reads 7239. Not sure how to read it. I believe it to be 239th day of 1967. Any thoughts on the upside down stamp and the correct way to read it ?

As you can see, the original date on my 1972 starts with HC, which is the code, and then the 4 digits of the date.
Don't ask me what the number is, I'd have to go look at my car to figure it out.

I think it's the 723rd day of 1969 but, it might be the 239th day of 1967.

        Mike,
To begin with the surface the stamping is on should not be painted cast, it s/b be machined.

          Hi Michael,
I believe the year is first then the julian date follows.
On my 71 master cylinder there's a bit of space which makes the way it's read a little more obvious.
No paint on this surface as Gene mentioned, just glare.
          Regards,
          Alan
