    65 brakes

I want to convert power brakes back to original standard brakes on my '65. Can the brake line going to the rear of the car be replaced without taking the body off?

    Steve,
The good news is you don't have to replace it, only need to shorten it about 6 inches and re-flare it.

I'm afraid there's a problem. The line is 1/4 inch instead of 3/16.

        Steve,
I assume your car had the body off previously. Check your left kick up to see if they reinstalled the two clips that hold the brake line to the kick-up. If those are not in place,
you will be able to replace the line. With the clips in place, you can work the bolts out from the wheel side (you should be able to see the bolt ends just above the pivot end of the trailing arm.)
I use a pair of vise grips and turn them out. Don't see a chance to reinstall them. The line will have to be "tweaked" into place. Not easy, but can be done. (With the rocker panel removed of course.)
        Hope this helps,
        Marco

          Thanks Marco,
I'll see what I can do with it.
