Windshield washers won't work on my 70 big block

I don't know the last time the washers were used but I just filled the bag and tried them and nothing. I know the tube from the bag to the motor is clear because you can suck through the water, and the fuse is ok. What's the next thing to check?

    Thanks,
    Willie

    Hi Willie,
I guess the next thing would be to check to see if any fluid is getting through the pump to the hoses that fasten to the tubes on the wiper arms.
This will likely lead to the realization of there being a problem in the pump with the rubber valves and seals I'm afraid.
There is some information available about rebuilding the pump using parts still available if that becomes necessary.
    Regards,
    Alan

If the pump is working properly you probably lost your prime. I have a hell of a time keeping mine primed.

Thanks Alan. When I push the washer button I hear a click shouldn't the pump start so I'd hear a motor running? What happens with your car?

        Thanks,
        Willie

          Hi Willie,
With the wiper switch in the off position when you push the 'wash' button in you should hear the wiper motor start at slow speed and also hear the washer pump begin to cycle.
If the pump is working properly the washer liquid should begin to squirt almost immediately.
When the wiper speed is increased to high you can hear the washer pump speed up too.
          Regards,
          Alan

The Willcox Corvette site has some useful information for testing the operation of the wiper switch and motor.
Look under 'Tech Videos' and also 'Install & Repair Help'.
