Thanks to Ed Johnson for stopping by with a battery. It started up after priming the carb it ran just like it did 20 years ago. We did not check to see if the clutch is stuck to the flywheel.

That's great. Doubt if the clutch is stuck. My 70 LT-1 sat for 10 years with all fluids drained. I put fluids in & it started on the second crank & the clutch was NOT stuck.65 350 TI CONV 67 J56 435 CONV,67,390/AIR CONV,70 454/air CONV,

Hi Ralph,
That's pretty interesting news! Well Done!!!
It's been sitting there just waiting to run all these years.
Do you have some plans for it now?
Regards,
Alan

What kind of fuel did you have in the tank or did you drain the tank and put fresh in?

Re: My 1970 LT-1 Started up after sitting for 20 years
20 years ago I siphoned the gas out of the tank and reached in with rag and soaked up all the gas from the bottom of the tank so it was dry.Ed attached fuel line into a gas can from the fuel pump to run it rather than put gas in the tank. There were no leaks anywhere when we started it.- Top

Re: My 1970 LT-1 Started up after sitting for 20 years
Hi Ralph,
Well in that case I'm very glad that Ed was willing and able to lend a hand in getting it started.
I'm sure you were quite pleased that it started easily and must have been pretty excited to see and hear it running.
The 70 LT-! cars certainly make a very special sound. I think if you're a Corvette guy, and especially a small block Corvette guy, it's one of those sounds you never forget.
The same thing is true about the first chambered pipe Camaro I ever saw or heard.
Regards,
Alan

Ralph - I kow you had mentined that you were thinking selling it. Reba'a suggestion of getting it out might not be a bad idea to give it a little exposure."SOLID LIFTERS MATTER"- Top
