Well, that beats my 2012 ZR1 by .25 seconds, but I'm not gonna rush out to buy it anytime soon.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Automatic Transmision Z06 0-to-60 in just 2.95 seconds
No way, I thought, that a RWD vehicle could get into AWD 0-60 territory, no matter how much power because at this power level all RWD vehicles are traction limited up to about 30 MPH.
Then I read the blurb, and it said the test car has the Z07 package that includes Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, which are serious DOT legal racing tires. So that really helps the traction issue, but even if you dirive like an old lady they might not make it to 10K miles and aggressive driving will drop down to 5K miles or even less.
...figure a day or two at a road course will cost a set of tires and brake pads. Novice drivers will likely burn through a set in a day because even though they are slower than experienced drivers, they tend to overuse the tires and brakes.
I long ago stopped paying attention to 0-60 times. How many of you have seriously ever tried to duplicate a manufacturer claimed or magazine tested 0-60 time? I consider 30 to 70 or 80 to be a much better measure of acceleration performance and something that can be done in light traffic on a lot of freeway onramps without risking going to jail or destroying the drivetrain, especially with manual transmissions.
At the performance level of today's supercars it's mostly about bragging rights quoting magazine test data as few will ever duplicate test performance, and most know they don't have the skill to even try. That was the experiece I had back in the eighties and nineties blowing off Ferraris at Riverside and Willow Springs in my Cosworth Vega, and I learned that a moderately powered car that has a balance of acceleration, handling, and braking capabilities, and a good driver, can beat an overpowered beast, especially if driven by a relative novice with little experinece tracking high powered cars.
That's how 1600cc Porsches could blow off C1s on road racing courses back in the fifties.
And, of course, today's best supercar is just another used car in a few years when something faster inevitably comes along. I bet the price of used C6 ZR1s is going to tank in the next year. Remember the C4 ZR-1.
