66 ac stv

I'm replacing my evaporator with new insulation in my 66, but know absolutely nothing about AC. I've heard conversations about the STV and have it off the car but don't know what it does or if it good or not. Is there a way to test it or do you just rebuild it? I'm rapidly running out of time and money on this project. Any expertise would be appreciated.

I have had Classic Auto Air (813-251-2356) in Florida rebuild them for me. They are very helpful and I have always been satisfied. Good luck, Don H.
