Are these known to fail? It works in auto, but the other functions are hit or miss weather or not they want to work. I saw an article that mentioned the rubber contacts possible being dirty, but are there any other issues that plague this thing. Oh, and of course when turning on the A/C it starts in defrost mode, but only for a few seconds (programmer on it's way out?) Would like to fix it all at once. 1973 LS-4 454 coupe owned 24 years 1996 LT-4 Collector Edition coupe owned 13 months Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA-currently on tap!

Sure do!! However the flow charts are only applicable when there is a code set...which I don't have! I mean the buttons have resistance (as opposed to feeling mushy or stuck) just hit or miss as to them working, for instance depressing the temperature increase has no effect.

Taber will rebuild your controller or programmer. You must send your core to them. On the programmer Sam the (GURU) will replace the soft nipples and the interior parts, I'm not sure about the controller mine is ok. Call Taber Corvettes ask for Sam he will tell you. Taber phone 1-877-349-2838.- Top

Rich I have used the procedure on page 1C-3 of my service manual on my 1996 and I get the same information, no codes, although my air conditioning system blows air from the defroster and floor outlets. My cruise control works great.- Top

Your nipples on your programmer are gone. I had the same problem, it's not your codes. When you use your heater, does the same happen? If so the system defaults to the defroster, it's a safety issue so the windshield doesn't ice up in winter months. Your system should allow up to 20% air coming out of defroster per fan settings. That will keep your windshield dry all the time.- Top
