70 L46 starter brace and shield attachment

Having read the archives I am still a bit confused.

Did the 70 sb starter brace have the hole for the self tapping screw to attach the starter heat shield or just a hole for the small tab?

What does the bolt look like the attaches the brace and shield to the starter?

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Bill,

The link below might help you. There were 3 different shields used. I have more photos, if necessary.

Thank you Dave. I just thought there was still some question in terms of when the change took place. Looks like I need a new brace and shield.

      Thanks, Bill

        Bill,

As far as I know the 1970 would use GM # 3959522 (1st design, attached with a self tapping screw) as shown in the photo below (the shield on the top. I still might have one in my collection.
