77 interior light timer

Where is the interior courtesy light timer located? Could this be included with the dome lite delay? Lites stay on after doors are closed.

Frank I do not know how your 1977 is equipped, my newest C3 is a 70. The switch that turns on the interior courtesy lights in my 70 is at the front of the door opening and turns on the lights when the drivers door or the passenger door is opened and turns off the lights when the doors are closed. It is possible that one of these two switches is not turning off your lights. You could unscrew the switch from the door and remove both of the pull off wires, tape them since one has 12 volts running through it and put the switch back in and not be bothered with having interior courtesy lights. Do the other switch if the lights stay on.
Now, if you have rotated your light switch counter clock wise and left it, your interior lights will be on until you rotate the light switch clockwise.

I have a courtesy lite timer part number 461294 I need which controls dome interior,and lower rear license plate lamp for safely exiting car from rear. I believe control is one year part number

The courtesy and dome light relay/timer is located between the speedometer and tachometer. It is on the top side of the of them. The dash board needs to be removed to or lifted to service it.

Thanks I can not find the part so I will splice thru the timer .Hate to do this but 1977 corvettes are one of a kind.

You are wise to do this since that relay/timer is also responsible for many 77's having their battery run down. When I bypassed mine, the battery drain went away.

Thanks! I did have battery problems and was so use of having courtesy lamps turning off automatic. What gets me is to turn off courtesy lites the headlight switch has to be rolled over to the clockwise position. Is this normal?

That shouldn't be necessary. It may be that your door switches are hanging up. I took both of mine apart and repaired them. In addition, on the driver side I had to put a small pad on the door to affect complete closure.

The headlight switch when turned fully clockwise will turn off the dashboard instrument and console lights. If turn fully counterclockwise the instrument lights will be at full bright and the courtesy likes will remain on.
