65 front wheel static collector

The 65 assembly manual shows the front wheel anti static collector being installed in the radio accessories section . My no radio 65 had one on one side and not the other . At what point would the collector have been installed ? Could it have been installed out of habit because most cars had radios ?

Bill,
I don't know where they were installed but they were riding along on the chassis when the engine was dropped. You can see one resting on the right upper control arm the other I think on sitting on the steering box in this 1966 photo. It could be they tried but did not always succeed in putting the correct part on the chassis. Perhaps the gentlemen in the background that's smoking a cigarette wasn't paying attention that day.
