Greetings, would appreciate your feedback with regards to the legitimacy of the 1967 Tank Sticker below. Does the Tank Sticker appear to be real or a reproduction? Many thanks in advance.

IMHO...repro. Way too perfect condition to have ever resided on the top of a '67 fuel tank. I don't think it would have come off the tank this perfect even back in '67.

Re: 1967 Tank Sticker - Real or Reproduction?

I am not the person to say whether this tank sticker is real or not, but it rouses my curiosity.

My 67 BB A/C Coupe was built in the same time frame (completed Feb 13, 1967, VIN 10578) and was very similar based on the options. The assembly line job number on mine is 400, versus 460 shown on this tank sticker. This car may have possibly been built within 60 cars of mine - but could also have been 560 away as well... Unfortunately, I do not have the tank sticker for my car to compare to for the other details (my fault, I lost it).

I was just wondering if the VIN on this one was close to mine, or way off? Of course a fake sticker can always be generated by duplicating one from a real car with only minor option changes, and in that case the other details and codes would be correct.

Many thanks Charles. What does the Assembly Line Job Number signify? My car is also a 67 BB A/C Coupe, specifically a 400hp motor. Are Assembly Line Job Numbers sequential on the line, irrelevant of mode/configuration, or are BB's grouped together and separate from SB's?

It is my understanding that the assembly line numbers were sequential (I believe from 001 to 999 and then reset back to 001?) and were basically used as an in-house system of keeping track of cars and matching parts for those cars. I'm sure there is a much more detailed description of this system within this forum.

I don't think the cars were typically grouped in any fashion. A B/B Coupe could easily follow a S/B Convertible - regardless of colors or options that were to be installed. Pretty sure the sequence was based strictly on the official car orders that were entered into the system.

The body job numbers went from 1 to 500 and started over

Re: 1967 Tank Sticker - Real or Reproduction?

Charles, with your car being completed Feb 13, 1967, VIN 10578 with an Assembly Line Number of 400, this car was completed the afternoon of Wednesday February 15th VIN 10960 with an Assembly Line Number of 460. With the cars only being off by 60 units on the assembly line with VIN's being separated by 382, something appears not to add up, perhaps suggesting an incorrect reproduction tank sticker in my case?

From previous discussions I have read on the sequence number, it wasn't an exact correlation to the VIN. I read about many close VIN cars where the numbering system matched, while others that were not consistent.

The sequence number on your window sticker may be something to consider as suspicious, which is why I was curious about the relationship of our VIN's to that number. If our cars were built only two days apart, there should be some sort of math that adds up???

Perhaps someone out there who has researched this relationship in more detail can chime in and help explain this data....

That could be real...if the correct way to spell transmission was tranmission. Thanks for the good laugh. I hope you didn't buy the car based on that documentation.

Yes, this one looks suspicious, here is mine, authenticated by NCRS, and it was built Feb. 14, 1967, VIN 10714

Many many many thanks to all and great catch Robert on the misspelling of Transmission, slipped right past me. Even the counterfeiters can't spell... lol.

Being that the Tank Sticker is reproduction, I would think there is a good chance the Window Sticker, Protect-O Plate, Trim/VIN Tags shown below are reproduction or misleading as well. I would appreciate your thoughts.

I'm confused as these attachments seem to be from a different car and look to be REAL.
