I'm guessing you haven't said who "we" are because of forum rules. PM me if you don't mind. I may be interested. Thanks!!

      Re: Spark plug wire ends?

Sorry to take so long to get back to this. Life/work sure gets in the way.

Anyway, I took a pic of the LL replacement next to the wire set that was on my car when I got it (origin unknown).

You can see two major differences

      1. The boot end of the LL set is smaller and not at long. I could also feel the density of the boot is less substantial. Perhaps this contributes to the arching issue I had.

      2. You can see the difference in the actual brade. The stuff on the car when I got it is much tighter and smaller weave than the LL set.

At at this point I'm sure they won't take them back so I am stuck and will have to eat the $140 bucks.

Perhaps Ken will jump back in and provide some more info about the wire he spoke of and how to make up a new set and the type of boot ends available.

Certainly would like to hear from the more experienced/educated about this subject.

          Re: Spark plug wire ends?

At some point I'll have to replace my '73 BB wires. I wouldn't expect LL to redesign the braiding to more closely match OEM due to cost. BUT they SHOULD address the boot issue, or I won't be buying them.

Ken. Can you post a pic of the boot ends you reference? See pics of what I had on car compared with LL purchased wires. Thx

              Don and Tom,
I did what was suggested in the first post. I got some Packard 440 (?) ignition wire and used the old boots, terminals and braid. Cut the new wires to the old lengths, slid the braid over them and soldered the terminals on both ends. It's been a couple years now and still runs OK. I've actually never checked to see if the radio is affected but I think someone here told me that as long as I had resistor plugs it would be OK. It's a 69BB.

OK, now that I continue to be confused.

Does anyone have a picture and specs on the actual "original" spark plug wires and boots??

How long were the original boots?
