65 front brake caliper mounting bracket

I see the front brake caliper mounting brackets on restored cars being both silver and gold plated . When I removed mine the areas that were protected seemed to be silver with a slight rainbow effect not the heavy gold you see on C3 actuator tanks . What is correct for a 65 . The manual just says they are Cad or zinc plated .
