where blackwall and whitewall tires from 65 and 66 the same as 67 i would like to put together a set of original tires strictly for judgeing i see some advertised for 65 66 that seem the same as 67 non dot but before i buy these i wanted to make sure they were the same

Even though the rim width in '67 went to 6" from the '65-'66 5.5", the OEM tire size remained the same at 7.75-15. I can't speak to the width of the whitewall itself.

Yes, the width of the stripe was different. 67 white wall width was 5/8 of an inch. ARA

There were also differences on the 65/6 blackwalls vs. 67 tires. A good examples are from US Royal Laredo and Uniroyal Laredo. The US Royals are correct for 65/6 where Uniroyal was correct for 67. I also believe that the Firestone Deluxe Champion also had a ribbed edge sidewall from 65 through early 67 that was changed to a smooth sidewall.

Bob, Steve is correct regarding the US Royal and the Uniroyal assertions. One tid bit of info though, we have seen documented original cars with original spare tires in them that still had the US Royal (Not Uniroyal) manufacturer name through November built 67's. I believe the latest one we know of was a November 18th 67 car with a US Royal white wall. The Company changed their name officially, thus the name change on the tires. ARA

Ara, I purchased a set of after market tires,I believe they are Kelse brand. I got them when I was Judging my 67 coupe. They lost 2 points total as I had a original wheel and tire for the spare. Would they work as well on my 66 that I plan to have judged. They appear to be the same. the white walls are 5/8.

Jack, they will work. You save a point deduct with having the original spare tire. 5/8 white wall for 66 and 67. ARA
