Where to find L designations as in L71 etc.

I was told once but forgot where to look. I get lost when reading posts and need to know which option one is talking about when using the L code. I can keep up with 300/327 or 435/427 and so on, but need a place to look to find out which engine I am reading about?

L is part of the RPO codes that you find in the Corvette Specs book or the Black Book such as A01 for tinted windows, C60 for AC, J50 Pwr brakes, K66 TI, L88 (you know what that is) M22, rock crusher, N14 pipes, yada, yada yada.

Since all the info known in the world is at your fingertips with google, you can just google for instance
"1967 corvette rpo codes" and one of the first responses you see is this

that lists all the rpos, the color codes, interior codes, etc

pps, terry, you should open your mind to pre-1968 corvettes. They really are the only true corvettes.....

The absolute best source for summary information on vintage Corvettes are the two NCRS Specification Guides written by John Amgwert that are available exclusively from NCRS.

My ten plus year old copies are getting so dog-eared from use, I'll probably have to buy new ones in the next couple of years.

            Duke,

You might want to consider new ones (Pocket Spec Guides) because we have updated them in the last 10 years. If I were home I would tell you the exact date, but Eric Mortimer corrected some early C3 mistakes (I know that may not matter to you). I don't know what other corrections there were (You know my focus) and some additional information was added.

                Thanks guys,
Which book would be user friendly, (fast) so when reading a post, the code could be found in a reasonable amount of time? Or is it up to me to make my own lists using the book as a guide?

I use the Corvette black daily when using my forums or looking at cars for sale. Even though I have most stuff memorized I still need to look it up. I also use the NCRS pocket guide. The one I have is only for 53-67. So you can't use it for every year. But it has all the major numbers of all the drive line parts which the black book does not.

The NCRS Pocket Spec Guides were most recently revised in Spring, 2011 (both the Fifth Edition 1953-1967 and the Fourth Edition 1968-1982).

You need some magic glasses like I have, Roy. I can see everything from hydrogen molecules to galaxies 14 billion light years away.
