Joe, I know this was a topic before here on the TDB and A/C came very late for 63 the VIN is way to early, Could the a previous owner installed at some point.

Re: 63 A/C car on ebay

One of my friends called me about this car last night.
As I told him, earliest known air car is 113224 mid march build per Noland Adams book.
Some of the necessary A/C parts were not even in production yet when 105848 was built.

what do you do when you think a car is inadvertently being mis represented? I'm not an expert but I don't think that compressor looks like a c2 compressor either. THe valve covers are also not correct which is obviously not a big deal and easily explainable.

As near as I can tell the compressor is OK, but the MC & alternator are incorrect.
Seller claims it is an early prototype vin105xxx, but Noland Adams details in his book why the earliest prototype (if one exists) would be vin 110xxx

The safe option is to walk away from it and don't look back. The issues you can easily or readily identify are indicative of the seller's integrity - not telling what lies beneath, meaning what other issues can you not readily see. Even if the seller agreed to reduce the price in an amount that is near what it would cost to restore the car to its original configuration (and I am not talking a full restoration here) the problem is you still don't know what you will find after you own it and begin to dig into the car.

Wait that 409 makes it a very rare car since it is original

Ah if memory serves the 409 was optional in lieu of the 348 in lieu of the 283 or wait maybe a 327 was offered. lol

Nah, I'm pretty sure that A/C was only an option on the last two 63's that they built with the 427, when the COPO all aluminum body was ordered with side exhausts, flow-through ventilation, and a rear seat. Those cars also had a split windshield...
