    Mileage Points?

I wanted to make mention of a couple of Judging scores that I received this past year. Not looking to have my scores changed, just wanted to make sure I understand how scoring works.

Last year was my first Chapter Judging Meet, drove 150+ miles. I received a raw score of 94.3 and 0 (zero) points for mileage. (At the time I didn't even know about mileage points.)
Fast forward a year, same Chapter Judging Meet, same 150+ miles. This time I received a raw score of 97.3 and 0.1 for mileage points. (Total of 97.4)

At a different Chapter Judging Meet I received 1.6 mileage points for 160+ miles driven. I'm planning on a Regional next week (560+ miles) and I'm presuming 5.6 mileage points. Is this correct?

Hypothetically if you get a raw score of 97.0 and 5.6 points for driving, do you get a TF of 102.5? How does that work?

It is way past my bed time & I shouldn't be doing this so late at night, but ...

From Page 24 of the NCRS Corvette Judging Reference Manual, 8th Edition:
"Since NCRS encourages driving, any car entered in Flight Judging driven by the owner or a family member to an event is eligible to receive additional points based on miles driven to the event so long as the car receives a minimum 75.0 net score. Mileage points are limited to 10% of net scoring.
"Points are calculated using the actual mileage driven to the event as reported on the Judging Summary sheet by the owner. This mileage is multiplied by 1% (.01). Using this number and not rounding up figures beyond the tenths place are dropped and the result is added to the net score to arrive at the final Grand Total Score, Grand Total can not exceed 100. For example, a car driven 37 miles to an event would have .3 added; while a car driven 375 miles would have 3.7 points added. Some calculated examples follow:

Net Score Mileage Mileage Points Grand Total
    87.8 435 4.3 92.1
    87.8 1135 8.7(10% max) 96.5
    72.8 138 0.0(under 75.0) 72.8
    96.1 9 0.0 (.09) 96.1"

I have my doubts the spacing of the above chart will come out right on this post, but I felt I had to keyboard in the entire section. I highly recommend you purchase a copy of the Reference Manual so you can "help" the tab team at your next Chapter judging. It seems to me they need the help. Try to be polite and diplomatic when offering your help to the Judging Chairman.

Edit add: Maybe someone who knows more about computers can help with the spacing on the above chart so it makes more sense.

      Hi Terry,

I tried using tabs instead of spaces in your table. It looked great when previewing my post, but not so much in the thread. So much for what you see is what you get! I converted it to a PDF. I couldn't get this site to upload the PDF. I scanned it to a jpeg and uploaded that to Photobucket. Way to much work for so little gain, but you know how it is when you get started on something! Anyway, here you go.

Looks great Joe. It was so late last night, and I had an early rise for work today -- even if I would have had the patience and skill to do that I doubt I would have been successful.

Thanks for all your hard work.
        Terry

Terry's numbers are correct if you can imagine them in columns.

A couple of points to remember:
There is no rounding up. That is why 435 miles give 4.3 only.
1135 miles equal only 8.7 because the bonus for driving cannot be more than 10% of total judging score achieved.

Mike, sounds like your team had the decimal in the wrong place. I don't know how long ago this meet was, but scores can be changed by the judging chair IF there is a mathematical error. I had that happen to two cars at a regional a few years ago and it was not caught until the judging sheets had been returned to the owners.
